NOTICE TO RESIDENTS - GARBAGE & RECYCLING
Residents are re-assured that recycling services are being conducted appropriately.
Although it may appear that recyclables are being disposed of with waste garbage, the trucks are equipped to hold both materials while keeping them separated.
SAFE DISPOSAL OF HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES
Every year, over 3 billion household batteries are tossed into the trash across the country! When batteries end up in our landfill, they erode and leak chemicals like mercury into the environment.
Household batteries can be dropped off at the Webbwood Public Library, Massey Public Library, Walford Post Office or the Municipal Office in Massey where they will be safely disposed of.
Firstly, curbside pickup of recyclables is every Thursday; however one week is the collection of fibers (paper and cardboard) and the next week is the collection of commingle (cans, plastic and glass). Collection will be the same throughout the Township regardless of where you live.
Secondly, several new products were introduced to the recycle stream. We are now able to recycle plastics - 1 through 6.
Riverside Enterprises has compiled a brochure to identify and describe the additional materials that can be recycled.
Please make yourself familiar with the provisions on the enclosed information and if you have any questions please feel free to contact Riverside Enterprises at 705-869-2447 or 1-800-341-5847, or the Township office at 705-865-2646.
Garbage from all residences and businesses is picked up each Thursday and must be placed at the curb by 6:00 am. Current bag limits apply: 2 bags per residence, 8 bags per commercial property. Maximum bag weight is 40 pounds. Bag tags are available for $2.00 each and can be purchased at the Township Office and the Massey and Webbwood Libraries.
